The NBA 2K franchise has a long-standing history, and with the upcoming sequel, there’s a wealth of information to absorb. The previous game, 2K18, delivered an impressive third installment in the pre-NBA 2K series. As we eagerly anticipate the latest release, we turn to the most reliable sources for information – the official website and Twitter account for the game. Both platforms have announced the release dates for the highly anticipated console game series.
Let’s begin with the basics – which games will be available in August? Will we have to wait until November for a 3DS release? As of now, it appears we may have to hold out until then. Now, let’s delve into the essential details: How much will it cost? When will it be available? Which platforms will it support? And finally, how can we purchase our copy?
What is the NBA 2K Series?
The NBA 2K series is a series created by NBA Entertainment, Inc. and released in 2011 as a launch title for the new Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 video games. The games are very much like its predecessors, with similar themes, themes about team building and player character development. The main difference, though, is that the games feature a new 3D model of the NBA and are set in the year 2028. All in all, we’re talking about a couple of years in the making here.
When will 2K Games be releasing their latest instalment?
2K Games is working on the next instalment of the NBA 2K series, which is scheduled for a spring 2014 release date. If you’ve been paying attention, you’ll know that 2K is only making two titles for Xbox Live Arcade at the moment: NBA 2K16 and NBA 2K17 . We can’t expect them to be releasing the full set on a consistent basis though, as the games are only being released on a select basis. Here’s a quick list of some of the recent releases: NBA 2K16, NBA 2K17, NBA 2K18, NBA 2K19, NBA 2K20, NBA 2K21, NBA 2K22, NBA 3K, NBA 4K, and NBA 5K.
What platforms are supported for the game?
While there are no specific platforms that are “supported” by 2K, there are a few things you can look out for in the near future that could make the game available on different devices. As we’ve already mentioned, the games are set to be available on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, but there’s no guarantee that the games will be distributed on the XBOX One or PS Vita as well. There are currently no releases for the iPhone, iPad, or Windows Phone, though we’re very interested in hearing more on those devices as well.
Which games will be made available?
We know that the games are set to release on different platforms, but which ones? Thankfully, 2K Games is revealing some of the upcoming titles at the moment. NBA 2K16, NBA 2K17, NBA 2K18, NBA 2K19, and NBA 2K20 are all set for a release on the Xbox Live Arcade in February 2014 and March 2014, respectively. Next up is NBA 2K19, which is also set to release on the Xbox Live Arcade in March 2014.
How much is it going to cost? and How can I pre-order my copy now?
Like everything in life, the price of entry is key on this one. While there are no set release dates for the games, pricing and availability will likely start to take shape in late 2013 or early 2014. As with everything in life, you’ll want to start small. The first thing to consider is achieving your goal of pre-ordering the game. It’s amazing how the wait is worth it once you start, as the game is all but guaranteed to ship in May or June of that year. Once your order is filled, all you have to do is pick up the phone and call your local retailer to grab your copy. You’re almost guaranteed to be hit with a massive markup!
The NBA 2K series is an incredibly beautiful and tremendous investment for the lifelong basketball player. The addition of 3D models, realistic moves, and a decent competitive level make the series fun for all the players and staff, and brings the NBA to life in a way that no other game can. The latest instalment in the NBA 2K series is set to release on August 9th, 2014. If you’ve been paying attention, you’ll know that the next instalment in the series is also set to come out on a different platform. The first thing to do is decide which platform you’re interested in and pick up the phone. If you want to get your hands on the latest and greatest, you’re going to have to pick up the phone now.
